SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Africa’s quintessential safari destination, Serengeti National Park, renowned for its unparalleled wildlife spectacles and the majestic Great Migration, is the heart of the African wilderness. ‘Serengeti,’ translating to ‘endless plains’ in the Maasai language, spans nearly 15,000 km² (about 6,000 sq miles), making it Tanzania’s second-largest national park. This vast and beautiful expanse is where nature’s most awe-inspiring documentaries come to life.

Diverse Wildlife Beyond the Migration

Serengeti’s vast plains are home to an extraordinary array of wildlife, including over 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 225 cheetahs, and 3,500 hyenas, thanks to the abundance of prey like wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and buffaloes. The park also offers the chance to see the Big Five (rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, and leopard) and hosts rare species such as the pangolin and East African Oryx.

Landscape and UNESCO Heritage

The park’s landscape varies from the iconic savannahs with scattered acacia trees to mountains, lakes, and swamps, each with its unique ecosystem. The Serengeti’s natural beauty and ecological significance have earned it a place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, touching the souls of all who visit.

When to Visit?

The Great Migration, a spectacle like no other, unfolds from November to July across the Serengeti. For the best wildlife viewing opportunities, we recommend visiting during the dry season, from June to September, when animals congregate around water sources, making them easier to observe in their natural habitats.
