When to Visit?
The prime periods for ascending Mount Kilimanjaro are during its dry seasons, traditionally spanning late June to October and December to February. These intervals are characterized by clear skies and stable weather, providing optimal conditions for trekking to the summit. Conversely, the rainy seasons, from March to May and November to early December, are less ideal due to the likelihood of heavy rainfall and muddy trails, which can complicate the ascent.

Choosing the Right Route for You
Kilimanjaro offers seven distinct routes to the summit, each with its unique characteristics:
Machame Route: Known as the “Whiskey route”, it’s celebrated for its scenic diversity and gradual ascent, enhancing acclimatization and success rates. Despite its popularity and being busy, its beauty is undeniable.
Lemosho Route: Famed for its stunning vistas and less crowded paths, Lemosho offers climbers an exquisite and remote experience, boasting a high success rate due to ample acclimatization time.
Marangu Route: Also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, Marangu offers hut accommodations and is the most economical choice. However, its rapid ascent provides less acclimatization time, affecting success rates. It’s less scenic and can get crowded.
Northern Circuit: The longest route, offering a comprehensive Kilimanjaro experience with high success rates due to the ample acclimatization time.
Shira Route: A scenic but challenging option recommended for experienced climbers due to the high starting point.
Rongai Route: Ideal for seasoned climbers seeking a quieter, drier climb with the chance to experience both sides of Kilimanjaro.
Umbwe Route: Known for its steepness, it’s suited only for experienced climbers accustomed to high altitudes.
