Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be greeted and transferred to your lodge in the vibrant town of Arusha. Prepare for your adventure with a pre-climb briefing and gear check, ensuring you’re fully equipped for the ascent.
Begin your trek at the Londorossi Gate, passing through rich farmland to the Lemosho trailhead. Ascend through the verdant forest to Lemosho Big Tree Camp (2,650m), where you’ll spend your first night on the mountain. [2-3 hours walking]
Journey from the forest into the expansive moorlands, reaching the edge of the Shira Plateau. Shira One Camp (3,550m) offers breathtaking views of the wilderness, setting the stage for the days ahead. [6-8 hours walking]
Ascend to the Lava Tower before descending to the stunning Barranco Valley (3,900m), surrounded by towering cliffs and offering spectacular views. [7-9 hours walking]
Conquer the Barranco Wall and traverse the southeastern flank of Kibo, with the Southern Icefields in view. Karanga Camp (4,000m) marks your final water stop before the summit. [4-5 hours walking]
Climb towards Barafu Campsite (4,600m), resting on a plateau with panoramic views. This camp serves as your base for the summit push. [3-5 hours walking]
Begin your ascent at 1 a.m., aiming for Stella Point (5,735m) by sunrise, with an optional hike to Uhuru Peak (5,896m). Afterward, descend to Millennium Camp (3,800m) for your final night on the mountain. [10-15 hours walking]
Descend through the lush forest to Mweka National Park gate (1,650m), passing through local farms on your way to Mweka village. [4-6 hours walking]
After bidding farewell to your mountain crew, a private transfer will take you from Mweka Camp back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), concluding your Kilimanjaro adventure unless you opt for an extension.
