Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be transported to your hotel in Arusha. Prepare for your ascent with a comprehensive pre-climb briefing and gear check, ensuring you’re fully equipped for the adventure ahead.

After completing registration at Marangu gate, you’ll be transferred to Rongai’s starting point. The initial trek leads through fields and pine forests, offering a chance to spot the Kilimanjaro Colobus monkey. Your first campsite, Rongai One Camp, boasts expansive views over the Kenyan plains. [3-4 hours walking]

The trail to ‘Second Cave’ unveils magnificent vistas of Kibo and the crater’s eastern ice fields. Opt for an afternoon acclimatization walk or simply relax and enjoy the panoramic views. [3-4 hours walking]

Venturing off the main path, today’s hike crosses moorlands towards Mawenzi, with camp set in a valley near Kikelewa Caves. The afternoon is yours to explore or rest. [3-4 hours walking]

Ascend to Mawenzi Tarn, nestled in a cirque below Mawenzi Peak. This serene spot is ideal for rest or exploration as you acclimatize. [3-4 hours walking]

Cross the alpine desert ‘Saddle’ between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo campsite. Spend the remainder of the day resting in preparation for your summit attempt. [4-5 hours walking]

Your summit bid begins in the early hours, aiming for Gillman’s Point and possibly Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Following the summit, descend to Barafu for lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp. [11-14 hours walking]

Descend through the lush forest to Mweka Gate, then through local farms to Mweka village, marking the conclusion of your mountain journey. A private transfer will take you back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.

After a transformative journey on Kilimanjaro’s Rongai Route, a private transfer from Marangu will escort you to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you bid farewell to Tanzania.
